Personal Bio

  • Aloha! First you should know that I'm a happy🤗guy who lives a peaceful zen life guided by compassion, kindness and intellect. My friends just call me MEHTA. You can too!
  • He holds degrees in Astronomy from the University of Texas in Austin and Medicine from the University of North Texas Health Science Center—Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine.
  • Doctor Mehta has been practicing Medicine for over twenty years.
  • The Wheel of Time is a series of high fantasy novels written by the late American author Robert Jordan. I won The Wheel of Time - A Memory of Light charity auction in 2011 and was written into the final book as a named character, Sandip. I am a Lieutenant with the Band of the Red Hand and also a skilled hedge-doctor. Sandip helps take and hold the west gate when Talmanes and the Band go to rescue the dragons in the city of Caemlyn. [ Wheel of Time Wiki at Fandom ] [ Encyclopaedia WoT ]. I wonder if I should audition to play my own character in the new Amazon Prime Wheel of Time TV series? 🤔
  • I am an Idea💡Engineer. This means I enjoy deep thinking, designing algorithms and wielding cognitive🤓computational syllogistic epistemology to create projects that explore new ideas.
It's a new idea!
  • MEHTA is an avid prolific photographer who has taken over 48,000 photos all over the USA and India. His photographic passions include 🌸Flower and 🦁Animal Portraiture in full bright sunlight☀️
  • He is a self-taught digital photo artist using Adobe Photoshop as a complex algorithmic image calculator and Corel Painter for its cloning & auto painting features, delightful brushes and surface texture tools.
  • My artistic eye awakened after discovering The Digital Renaissance (Old Master Techniques in Painter and Photoshop) by Carlyn Beccia. This amazing book changed my life!

Artist Statement

STUDIO*XEPHON is my love-song to the lyrical beauty of the natural world, expressed through the 'painting lens' of my camera united with a reimagining of classical High Renaissance artistry. As a self-taught photographer and digital artist, I am enamored by the paintings of Caravaggio, Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Raphael, Rembrandt and Vincent van Gogh. I endeavor to skillfully blend together aspects of the canonical modes of Sfumato, Chiaroscuro and Unione into each of my large format contrasted paintings which originate with my own thoughtfully composed personal photography. The captivating paintings are delightfully imperfect and never quite finished.

Sfumato is one of the four canonical painting modes of Renaissance art. The technique is a fine shading meant to produce a soft transition between colors and tones, in order to achieve a more believable image. It is most often used by making subtle gradations that do not include lines or borders, from areas of light to areas of dark. The technique was used not only to give an elusive and illusionistic rendering of the human face but also to create rich atmospheric effects. Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519) described the technique as blending colors, without the use of lines or borders "in the manner of smoke". —credit Wikipedia

Chiaroscuro (Italian for light-dark) is one of the four canonical painting modes of Renaissance art. It is the use of strong contrasts between light and dark, usually bold contrasts affecting a whole composition. Similar effects in cinema also are called Chiaroscuro and is a mainstay of black and white photography. Artists known for developing the technique include Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519), Caravaggio (1571-1610) and Rembrandt (1606-1669). —credit Wikipedia

Unione is one of the four canonical painting modes of the Renaissance, along with sfumato, chiaroscuro and cangiante. Unione is similar to sfumato, but is more useful for the edges of chiaroscuro, where vibrant saturated colors are involved. Unione was developed by Raphael (1483-1520) as his response to the darker tones of Leonardo da Vinci's sfumato. Bellezza di colore is "beautiful color" as seen in Raphael's seraphic masterpiece paintings The School of Athens, Transfiguration and La Belle Jardinière. —credit Wikipedia

Vincent van Gogh (1853 - 1890) was a Dutch Post-Impressionist painter who is among the most famous and influential figures in the history of Western art. In just over a decade he created about 2,100 artworks, including around 860 oil paintings, most of them in the last two years of his life. They include landscapes, still lifes, portraits and self-portraits, and are characterised by bold colours and dramatic, impulsive and expressive brushwork that contributed to the foundations of modern art. His suicide at age 37 followed years of mental illness and poverty. —credit Wikipedia

When you create a black and white photograph, you create something that is abstract and strikingly real at the same time. Black and white photography is strange that way. It is perhaps this abstractness that makes black and white images so intriguing and timeless.
